These general terms and conditions govern the use of the Luern website, a personal library management service (books, comics, manga) offering in particular an intelligent assistant, Vate, available for free up to a monthly usage limit, and with a higher limit via subscription.
Access to the website's features requires creating an account using an email address, a username and a password. The user agrees to provide accurate information and to keep their login credentials confidential.
Luern allows you to catalogue books, comics and manga, track your reading progress, keep a wish list (the "dream library") and exchange with friends. The Vate assistant is accessible to any user with an account, within the usage limits described in section 5.
The Vate subscription is a paid subscription, billed monthly, at a rate of €5/month via our payment provider Stripe (website) or €4.79/month via Google Play (mobile app). It grants a higher monthly Vate usage limit than free accounts (see section 5). It renews automatically until cancelled by the user, which can be done at any time from the "My Account" page.
Use of Vate is subject to a monthly limit, calculated from the cost of the resources used by each request (artificial intelligence processing, web searches): a simple question uses little of it, while adding books or asking for suggestions uses more. This limit is higher for subscribers than for free accounts. The share already used is displayed as a percentage in Vate and on the "My Account" page. Once the limit is reached, including during a request, which may then be interrupted, Vate is unavailable until the 1st day of the following month (midnight UTC), when the limit is reset. Any unused share is not carried over to the following month. In addition, Vate handles only one request at a time per user, up to 10 requests per minute and 100 requests per 24-hour period, and each message is limited to 2,000 characters. Any circumvention of these limits, in particular by creating multiple accounts, is prohibited and may result in the suspension of the account. The publisher may change these limits; any change will be communicated to users on the website.
In accordance with Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code, you have a period of 14 days to exercise your right of withdrawal. By subscribing to the Vate subscription, you expressly request the immediate performance of the service and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal as soon as the digital service has begun to be provided.
The user may delete their account at any time from the "My Account" page. This action is irreversible and results in the deletion of associated data, as well as the termination of any ongoing subscription.
Content added by the user (library, notes) belongs to them. The Luern brand, its logo and the website's code remain the exclusive property of its publisher.
Luern does everything possible to ensure the availability and security of the service, without guaranteeing uninterrupted operation. The publisher's liability cannot be engaged in the event of a temporary interruption of the service or loss of data resulting from a case of force majeure.
These terms and conditions are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the French courts shall have sole jurisdiction.
